Phonics
A phonics class is an interactive and engaging learning environment where students develop the skills to read by mastering the relationship between sounds and letters.
During our weekly phonics classes, we read various stories from Raz-Kids to practice students’ reading and comprehension abilities. Teachers are available to assist with pronunciations for certain words.

Phonics for Caregivers
A phonics class is an interactive and engaging learning environment where students develop the skills to read by mastering the relationship between sounds and letters. By studying words associated with those with special needs, one can improve their understanding of intellectual disabilities while also enhancing their pronunciation and reading comprehension skills.
In this class, we focus on reading with an emphasis on phonetics and pronunciation. Specifically, we examine passages about ASD: its symptoms, treatments, and methods for educating others about the topic. The teachers of the adult class ensure that everyone is on the same page and correct any mistakes made. It’s also important to challenge students in each class by allowing them to try certain words or paragraphs and emphasizing certain phonetic patterns found in the words. Overall, it is a very rewarding process, and students learn to recognize more difficult word structures while also getting to know each other better over time!

Sky Camp Online Classes are structured programs that mingle typical developed children with children with IDD. These classes provide opportunities for social and skills building.
Typical developed children and children with IDD join the same session sharing their experiences and having topical conversations. This leverages peer influence for growing, bonding and learning.
Having fun making digital videos and poster for an event, a theme or on any topic. The summer class was taught by Prudy.
Stay tuned for our upcoming course on basic webpage editing. This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of web editing:
A big congratulations to the two high school volunteers from Sky Camp for earning the Presidential Volunteer Service Award Silver Medal from ProjectREADY!
At Sky Camp, ProjectREADY, they have dedicated their time to befriending and supporting youth and adults with developmental disabilities, participating in social and language classes, and playing a key role in organizing and participating in the AbleBloom 2023 event.
These outstanding young volunteers are shining examples for their peers, showing how second-generation Chinese-American youth can make a positive impact in their community. Keep up the great work!
ProjectREADY is honored to be an official Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
